Angela Andrews spent 30 years teaching preschool,
kindergarten and primary students. In 1990, she
received the Presidential Award for Excellence in
Mathematics Teaching. She was a member of the
Pre-K-2 writing team for the NCTM’s Principles
and Standards for School Mathematics. She coauthored
Little Kids-Powerful Problem Solvers with
Paul Trafton. For the last 5 years, Angela has worked
as a Math Recovery teacher. She is currently an assistant professor of
Mathematics Education at National Louis University.
Diane Cushing Liesen has worked in District #203
Naperville for 8 years in both Reading and Mathematics
Intervention programs at the primary level.
She is a master tutor, helping students who struggle
with making sense of mathematics and received the
district’s “Those Who Excel” award for her efforts.
She has been trained in Math Recovery and, with
Angela G. Andrews, gives professional development
workshops across the state of Illinois.
